Under the lights of Raider Stadium, the Rowland Raiders debuted their new gray-and-gold alternate uniforms — and delivered a performance that matched the look.

Rowland High School Football (Rowland Heights, CA) improved to 7–0 for the first time since the 2009–10 season, defending home turf with a 36–21 win over Pioneer (Whittier, CA).

It was another night that reflected everything this program stands for — discipline, physicality, swagger, and composure in every phase of the game.

First Quarter | Trading Early Blows

The Raiders opened with rhythm and confidence.

Senior running back #4 Ethan Zepeda hit a crease up the middle, bounced left, and sprinted in for a 15-yard touchdown, setting the tone early.

#1 Aidan Opatkiewicz added the PAT for 7–0.

Pioneer answered with a 53-yard rushing score to even things at 7–7, and the first quarter closed with both sides trading momentum.

Second Quarter | Taking Control

Rowland’s offensive line started to impose its will.

Senior running back #8 CJ Carrillo zoomed past two defenders down the sideline for a 19-yard touchdown, reclaiming the lead.

#1 Aidan Opatkiewicz’s extra point made it 14–7.

Moments later, the Raiders forced a turnover on downs.

Quarterback #9 Jose Valadez found #7 Damien Arrieta, who ran across the field sideline to sideline and down to the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown.

By halftime, Rowland led 21–7, playing its most complete half of the season.

Third Quarter | Responding with Fire

Pioneer opened the second half with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, trimming the gap to 21–14.

Rowland didn’t flinch.

On the next drive, #9 Jose Valadez rolled left again and hit #8 CJ Carrillo for a 52-yard touchdown, igniting the sideline.

On the two-point try, #1 Aidan Opatkiewicz connected with #28 Jeovany Delgado, extending the lead to 29–14.

Pioneer added one more short rushing score (29–21), but the Raiders’ composure never wavered.

Late in the quarter, #7 Damien Arrieta delivered a highlight of his own — a perfectly placed punt that stopped inside the ½-yard line, pinning Pioneer deep and sending the Rowland crowd into a roar as the quarter expired.

Fourth Quarter | Closing Time

Early in the final frame, #8 CJ Carrillo sealed the game.

He broke free down the sideline for a 30-yard touchdown run, his third of the night, as Rowland’s sideline erupted.

#1 Aidan Opatkiewicz drilled his fourth straight PAT to make it 36–21.

From there, the defense took control — #6 Bryce Johnson, #11 Frankie Trujillo, and #28 Jeovany Delgado closed lanes and shut down the run while the secondary held strong.

On the final play, the offense lined up in victory formation, kneeling the ball to end the night as the Raiders stood 7–0 for the first time in 16 years.
