Rowland Raiders preparing to take the field
Some seasons define a program. Others redefine it.
For Rowland High School Football, 2025 was the year that turned belief into legacy.
On November 7th, under the glow of home lights and the echo of drums, the Raiders took the field for their first CIF home playoff game in way over a decade — undefeated, unshaken, and carrying the pride of an entire community on their backs.
They played with the same fire that carried them through a 10–0 regular season — the first in school history.
The Raiders came out swinging.
Bryce Johnson (#6) set the tone early with a hard run finding the end zone and igniting the home crowd.
Moments later, Jose Valadez (#9) connected with Aidan Opatkiewicz (#1) for a deep 60-yard touchdown — the kind of play that’s lived in highlight reels all year.
CJ Carrillo (#8), who’s been at the heart of this team’s identity, pulled down an interception in the first half and bulldozed through for a two-point conversion that pushed the lead to 22–0.
Everything about Rowland that night reflected what had made them special all season — speed, grit, and unshakable unity.
Even when San Dimas found life in the second half, the Raiders refused to quit.
Damien Arrieta (#7) followed with another interception, while Frankie Trujillo (#11) and Jeovany Delgado (#28) anchored the trenches on every down, giving Rowland a chance until the final whistle.
When the clock hit zero, the scoreboard showed 24–22 — but what it didn’t show was the legacy this team had just cemented.
A Season Written in History
The 2025 Raiders finished 10–1 overall and 3–0 in league play, securing their first league championship since 2012.
It marked the first 10–0 regular season in school history.
Rowland’s 2025 squad averaged 38.5 points per game, scored 59 total touchdowns, and climbed to a state ranking of 297 — the highest in more than 15 years.
But more than stats, they built belief.
CJ Carrillo (#8) finished his senior season as the heartbeat of the Rowland offense — totaling over 1,800 all-purpose yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine two-point conversions, while adding three interceptions and a punt-return score on defense and special teams.
Defensively, Rowland stacked 686 total tackles, 19 sacks, 14 interceptions, and 9 fumble recoveries — one of the most dominant defensive seasons in the program’s history.
The Team That Changed Everything
This wasn’t just a winning season.
It was a cultural shift — the kind that programs are built on for decades.
From 2013 to 2023, Rowland had seen only two winning seasons.
But under Head Coach Citos Marinez, the 2025 Raiders didn’t just win — they restored pride, physicality, and culture to The Heights.
They reminded the alumni, the parents, and every kid watching from the fence what Rowland Football truly stands for: family, discipline, brotherhood, physicality, and culture.
They started the year with one goal — 16–0.
And while the journey ended sooner than they hoped, the impact will echo for years to come.
What they built was the standard, the spirit, and the pride —and it is only beginning.
